Biodiversity in Ecuador

Wow, what great trip! Rainforests, cloudforests, high mountains, and even cityscapes. Ecuador was AMAZING. I finally got to shoot river otters, some rare birds, and even llamas under a volcano.

Now that I have most of the critters and plants identified, take a look at the collection (Travel -->South America-->Diversity of Ecuador).

Spectacular ICELAND

My first trip to Iceland was magnificent. In June, my son Sean and I joined Nature Odyssey Worldwide Photo Tours, led by Nathaniel Smalley. The dramatic waterfalls and beaches were amazing! Icelandic horses were playful and full of character. A memorablre evening was spent at a lagoon and beach with large chunks of ice that separate from a nearby glacier and float to the ocean. Prescott 2019 Nature Calendar - SOLD OUT

My first calendar of local Prescott nature images was a big success. The calendar was sold at three retail outlets in my hometown: Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, Peregrine Book Co. Store, and the Prescott Art Market. So much fun that I plan to do another for 2020.

Java and Bali (Indonesia) Adventure

Much of June was spent on the islands of Java and Bali in Indonesia. Once again I joined a Nathan Horton Photography Tour to explore a subject-rich destination. I was rewarded with very interesting cultures with a prominent religious influence; Java is mostly Muslim and Bali mostly Hindu. Spectacular landscapes included volcano craters and sulphur mines high in Eastern Java, as well as rice terrace fields in Bali. I also enjoyed two traditional Balinese dance troupes.

Arizona Balloon Rides

I have recently ascended above four different parts of Arizona in hot air balloons. All the rides were very exciting and each had there own appeal. I am sure I will do more soon. Thanks to the pilots and fellow adventurers I was able to get some great shots of scenery and activity below. Take a look in the new 'Arizona Balloon Rides' collection under Nature --> Landscapes. Kenya 2017 Photo Safari

Kenya is a very special place. I recently went on an extended, custom photo safari that I refer to as '18 days in a jeep'. What a great experience!

Special thanks to our amazing guides Mamai John and David Kariithi; Stu Porter and Justyna Porter of Wild4 African Photographic Safaris, and Fact Safaris LTD. I had a wonderful time with fellow photographers Linda Winward Skeen, Margie & Sheldon Derezin, Don Getty (thanks for organizing this Don!), and my great roommate Bruce Hollingsworth.

Amazonia Expedition

What an adventure! Fifteen days on a river boat in the Amazon Basin, with 2-3 canoe or hike explorations daily. I experienced very challenging photography conditions (high heat and humidity, canoe motion, dark forests) but I am very pleased with the new gallery. Many thanks to the three trip leaders, five crew members, and nine fellow adventurers for making this a memorable and rewarding experience.

"Universal Threads" Exhibition at 'Tis Art Gallery in Prescott, AZ; April 15 - May 14

I am excited to join artist Carla Woody for a joint exhibit at the prestigious 'Tis Art Center & Gallery on Courthouse Plaza in Prescott. I am hanging 22 framed photographs, and also have numerous matted prints and greeting cards for sale. This is my biggest local exhibition to date and it should be a lot of fun.

Myanmar Adventure

Wow! In late January, I participated in an adventurous "Myanmar - Tribes & Trekking" photo tour led by Nathan Horton Photography Tours. The fourteen full days of exceptional travel photography opportunities was extremely rewarding (and exhausting). Deemed a "research tour," we hiked from one tribal village to another, crossed the central lakes in a four-seat motorized canoe, rode in horse carts and river boats, floated over temples in a balloon, and took five domestic flights to reach our destinations. We even spent an afternoon on electric motorbikes visiting temples and workshops. The itinerary had it all: indigenous people, landscapes, architecture and more. 2017 Arizona Wildlife Calendar; Honorable Mention

I just received two complimentary copies of the 2017 Arizona Views Wildlife Calendar and am thrilled to see one of my photos selected as an 'Honorable Mention'. It is a closeup image of a Gila Monster taken at a 'Creepy Crawly Critters' workshop at the Arizona Game & Fish Department facility in Mesa last year.

Prescott Art Market - New 'Fotos Along the Way' Display

The new 'Prescott Art Market' has opened at the Gateway Mall Circle and 'Fotos Along the Way' is among three photographic displays (there are 65 total vendors). Framed prints and greeting cards are on sale. The first framed print sold was 'Holding on Tight', a red-eyed tree frog clinging to a branch.

Morocco Travel Photos Posted

I spent 11 days in Morocco in March and the selected favorites are ready for viewing. A good mix of people, culture and scenery. Also created a separate gallery dedicated to the fantastic doors of palaces, schools, mosques and homes.

Photography Workshop "Creepy Crawly Critters"

I attended my third Arizona Highways Photo Workshop last weekend, this one a full day of capturing images of critters of the desert. Rattlesnakes, tarantulas, gila monsters, tree frogs and geckos. The workshop leader was renowned Arizona photographer Bruce Taubert, assisted by animal wrangler Randy Babb. Had a great time and learned a bunch about the critters. Those who know me well are aware of my fascination with reptiles and amphibians.

Check out the new gallery "AHPW Creepy, Crawly Critters". Probably not for you if not a fan of snakes (like my sister, who has already been warned).

Featured Photographer in 'Overland Journal' magazine

Just received a copy of the 'Overland Journal' Fall 2015 issue in which I am honored to be the featured photographer. The magazine selected nine of my Cambodia photos for a six-page spread in their 'Latitude' section. Also was the first time I had to submit a bio with any material. Nice paycheck!!
